I have had it for 25 days and was thinking about sending it back ,,, I’m going to keep it , The rechargeble batteries are a big $$$ saver for any AA camera especially a battery hog of a cammera. I also had issues w/ it shutting down randomly upon attempting to take photo ,,Problem was powersave options turned on or set to low of a time , 2-3 of them were turned completely off and Hark NO more shutdowns. But,,, man she sucks the power out of a set of ANY type way tooo fast!! People are not complaing as SOMEONE stated ,, There stating a fact. I had a fuji finepix a2650 for 7 yrs , 2.1 MP worked excellent and batteries seemed to last forever. It had a 16 mb xD pic card and it was my only complaint it was propietary to the fuji. I’m sad that died last month while taking pics of my new deck, I was going to get another fuji but don’t want those battery packs that require a special charger and cost 1/2 as much as a camera for 1 set of bat. and a charger. i wanted a camera for $100-125 $ bottomline!
the s85 takes excellent pictures and is very flexilbe in what it can do. A 2gb sd pic card last forver w/ pics only and can take some nice video w/ sound.I bought a 2 gb and 1 gig card and have not used the 1 g yet
no need seems like unlimted room on the 2 gb. It is a very nice camera for $111.00 delivered to my door . the colors are neat and the negative exposure is cool , the manual pretty much Sucks and is vague at best, Play w/ the setting and get familar/used to it and tour good to go !! I don’t think I can do better for the money i paid .
Some Zoom pics we took amazed me . Also I compared it to a fuji a820 we have at work and it was much better than the fuji . It (s85) takes nice macro pics and the zoom pics were 1000 % better than the fuji a820 , It (the fuji) is not that old and is already making funny grinding noises when zooming in and out. and it won;t take a clear zoom pic at all , i’ll keep the samsung and buy another set of rechargeble AA’s ,I like it!!!

I got this lens to replace the Tamron 70-300mm. I would skip the Tamron and just get this one. Just the quick switch focus is worth the money. If your in low light and the auto focus is hunting you can just grab the manual focus and go. The camera is choosing the wrong point for the focus, just grab the manual. No switching to auto focus required. It’s also weather sealed and the image quality is great. It also has the focal length range to make this a decent walking around lens. I took some great fireworks images this independence day with this lens. I set the aperture to f11 and then took three to ten second exposures, with tripod of course. Worked great.

This flash is far better than the on-camera flash, in that it does extend the range a little, and adds an enormous amount of versatility and control over lighting the subjects. My problem is it’s range - although it is a basic flash, I tried shooting subjects no more than 16ft away and it had problems lighting them up properly.

This is a great zoom. The pictures come out sharp. This lens gets plenty of light with my K200D, despite not being rated “fast”.
This is a good complement to the 18-55 kit lens of the Pentax K200D.
You cannot do better for a new lens at this price.

Customer Review: Defective Camera, Lame Service
Bought a Samsung NV24HD digital camera from Amazon on May 24, 2008. When I tried to register it online, I’d get a message that it wasn’t a valid serial number. I didn’t give that much thought, thinking perhaps they hadn’t caught up with their production. Today is July 17, 2008 and they still haven’t caught up.
I have found the camera difficult to set, difficult to use, and I’ve been unable to download pictures from the SD card unless I put the card in my Canon camera which works fine. I loaded the Samsung Master software into two PCs running Windows Vista. Neither computer recognized the camera. After an hour on the Samsung tech line it was agreed the camera is defective. When I asked for an address where to send it, I was asked for the serial number. I read it off and they told me it is not a valid serial number. Upon speaking to a higher up it was finally admitted the camera was manufactured in April of this year, “but we probably haven’t caught up.
Amazon refused to give me a full refund. They did tell me I could return the camera and I’d receive a partial refund. How much? I asked. That’s up to the return department after they inspect the camera. Under those terms they could return me $25 bucks on a $300+ camera.
If I send it to Samsung for repair I will not actually be sending it to Samsung. While SONY maintains its own repair facilities, Samsung hires it out to someone on 6th Avenue in NYC. Would I buy another Samsung product? I don’t think so.
